Angel Magbutay
Owner & Baker
Halo Cookie Co. started during a season when I was feeling burned out from my corporate job and needed something that helped me slow down. Cooking and baking became that space for me to relieve stress, reset, and create something with my hands. What I didn’t expect was how much joy it would bring when my family and friends kept telling me how much they loved what I was making and asked for it again and again.
For a long time, this was just something I did for the people close to me. I spent a lot of time thinking and praying about whether this should become more than that. I asked God for clarity and guidance, and eventually felt at peace taking the next step getting licensed, building a site, and sharing my cookies more intentionally.
The name Halo Cookie Co. carries a lot of meaning for me. It’s a play on my name, Angel, but it also reflects my Filipino roots. Halo-halo is a dessert made up of many different elements, and that idea of mixing flavors, textures, and influences felt like the perfect fit for the cookies I love to create. The name also represents my desire to build this business with faith, purpose, and care at the center of it.
When it comes to baking, I focus on balance. I care deeply about cookies that aren’t overly sweet, that have the right texture—crisp edges, soft centers—and that feel comforting without being heavy. Feedback from the people I bake for matters to me, and it’s a big part of how each recipe continues to improve.
Right now, Halo Cookie Co. is rooted in serving family and friends, but the vision is growing. As the business becomes more established, I hope to expand into the local community, participate in events, and eventually give back through holiday treats for shelters and care facilities. For now, my focus is simple: bake with intention, prioritize quality, and share cookies that are truly worth every last crumb.

Inspired by Family
Family has always been at the heart of why I bake. Many of the recipes at Halo Cookie Co. were shaped around a kitchen table shared during gatherings, tested with loved ones, and refined through honest feedback. Baking for my family taught me the importance of balance, comfort, and consistency, and those values guide every batch I make.
Their support, encouragement, and taste-testing have played a meaningful role in shaping Halo Cookie Co. From everyday treats to special celebrations, these cookies are made with the same care I use when baking for the people closest to me. That sense of family continues to influence how this business grows—one thoughtful batch at a time.
